In this workshop we will follow in the footsteps of master painters, such as John Singer Sargent, Carl Rungius, Edgar Payne and J.E.H. MacDonald, through their travels of the Canadian Rockies from Bow Lake to Lake O’Hara.
We will be painting outdoors at Bow Lake and Lake O'Hara with stops at Moraine Lake and Lake Louise.
At Bow Lake we will paint in the same places as Carl Rungius to study what he saw and why it is important to study the masters to better understand our own work. At Lake O’Hara we will stand at Sargent's Point and paint one of the most beautiful, and most painted, places on earth. Painters from around the world have come to paint and study these wonders of mother nature. We will study the works of some of these artists and then learn to create our own interpretation of these majestic places.
Length:
4 days, 3 nights
Itinerary:
- First evening - 6:30 pm will be a presentation at Deer Lodge in Lake Louise about a history of some of the artists who have painted where you will be painting in this workshop and the famous mountain locations. Afterward we will continue discussions in the pub for those who want to stay.

Comments From Painting Workshop Participants
Jerry is truly gifted both as an artist and teacher. His approach to the subjects he paints, and the knowledge he shares with his students, make his workshops a delight. To be so enthusiastic, yet patient enough to teach others, is a rare combination. Thank-you for the opportunity to participate at the Beaverfoot Lodge Workshop.

I really enjoyed the 5-day workshop at Beaverfoot Lodge in September 2009. I learned so much about the value of plein air painting. Jerry shared his wealth of knowledge with the group regarding painting the landscape. I really appreciated the individual instruction. The scenery was majestic and Beaverfoot Lodge was a wonderful place to stay. What a great week it was!!

Jerry's 5-day plein air workshop was amazing. I really like his personality, big smile, great sense of humour, but best of all his teaching ability. He has such a nice way of guiding you through pointers to change ugly paintings to something that makes you want to continue.

Jerry,
I wanted to thank you for a wonderful weekend workshop - all of your words of wisdom are still fresh in my thoughts and I am seeing "value" everywhere!!!
Perhaps our paths may cross again in the future, if not, please know that you have opened my eyes to a true appreciation of work in oils.....thank you.

Jerry,
I really enjoyed myself at your 3-day intensive workshop in BC. It was fun, had a relaxed learning atmosphere, just the right amount of structure, so much information, lots of practice, EXCELLENT instruction, and with having a small group I got more than my money's worth. A bonus was Leah's cooking.
Thank you,
